RECYCLED Collection

        Alexander McQueen Fall 2009

Last year , when late designer, Alexander McQueen decided to name his Fall 2009 Collection , The Art of Recycling and Throw-Away Habit of the Fashion Industry , magazines , stores were a bit weary the line won't sell. Since, it appeared the designer was mocking the industry which catapulted him to success.

But, ahem, Alexander McQueen knew what he was doing. Some of the designs were actually made of aluminum cans, trash bags as head pieces. There was poetry and drama in the unveiling of this truly fashionable collection .  Here we are, Spring 2010 and these designs are still on people's lips. Who is the King of The Art of Recycling now? Alexander. The Great Designer. Wow, such genius.

Sarah Burton, NEW CREATIVE Director at Alexander McQueen

This just in minutes ago, Sarah Burton, Alexander McQueen's right hand woman has been named the new Creative director of Alexander McQueen. And Sarah had this to say ,

“The creation of modern, beautifully-crafted clothes was at the heart of Lee’s vision. I intend to stay true to his legacy,”

Sarah Burton, Creative Director at Alexander McQueen

Gucci Group which co-owns  51% Alexander McQueen believe Sarah is the best person for the job, given she'd worked with the late designer Alexander McQueen since 1996. She understands his vision. Well, we cannot wait to see what Sarah thinks up and delivers. She also happened to have attended Central St. Martins, McQueen's Alma mater. And in 2000, she was appointed Head of Women's design at Alexander McQueen in 2000. She definitely has the goods. congrats, love.

Alexander McQueen bids Farewell

Designs from Alexander McQueen's last show

Known as Lee amongst his close friends, Alexander McQueen's untimely death on February 11th,this year, left the fashion world in shock and disbelief. Less than a month from what would have been his 41st birthday on March 17th, it seemed the cruelness of this world caused him to return to the fashion gods much sooner than we all expected. Rest In Peace sweet soul.  Judging from his last show, Alexander did not fail the fashion world. He was just getting started. To some it appeared Alexander was carefully spunned by the fashion gods and we were not ready to let him go back to them. We simply wanted more McQueen. May his fierce legacy live on .
